Wow. Glad you wore that shirt, too. My best friend attempted suicide over 13 years ago. Although the attempt failed I have felt guilty ever since. I was too distracted, too busy, etc. Reality is, although she survived she ended life as she knew it. My heart breaks for all those so desperate to leave this world. Hugs to all the survivors.
Oh Rene, I'm so sorry about your friend. One thing I've learned in my long journey with healing from suicide loss is that (1) almost all of us feel guilty and (2) thinking we could have somehow stopped it is usually an overestimation of our power. I wish peace and healing for both you and for your friend. Hugs.
What an important, profound post. Sharing the pain experienced by those close to people who die by suicide just might help someone thinking of harming themselves to change their mind, and give survivors an opening to talk about their suffering. Thank you.
You have such a big heart, V, and it really comes through in every word you write. If you ever want to have a mini-memorial for your brother and sister I am here to help.
So helpful you wear that shirt. I am so very sorry for your loss V. Sharing the stories of the tragic losses really does help ease some of the pain. Thank you for doing this for all who come in contact with you by wearing and sharing this message.
oh, V! thank you for sharing your journey and vulnerability - T shirts are powerful connectors!
Indeed they are! And thank you. :-)
